BLMW was conceived in December of 2005 as a central resource where those with an active interest in promoting the rights of boys to their own sexuality could come to find news stories of interest, and then take action on a media sponsored forum if one was provided, or send emails to reporters and/or editors pointing out the biases and errors that are almost always present in media news reports.

Unfortunately, this hoped-for activism was never more than minimal, and for some time has been essentially nonexistent.

Therefore, as of 21 July 2008, BLMW has ceased operation and has been taken off line.
